The greatest roadster ever built—a 9,000-rpm, 240-hp, rear-drive masterpiece that was Honda's love letter to the sports car. It's a driver's car, pure and simple.
The S2000 is a front-engine, rear-drive roadster with a 2.0L F20C DOHC VTEC 4-cylinder (240 hp) or a 2.2L F22C (237 hp) in the later models. It had a 6-speed manual, a limited-slip diff, and double-wishbone suspension all around. It revved to 9,000 rpm and was incredibly balanced.
The S2000 is reliable, but it has a timing chain (so no timing belt issues). The clutch slave cylinder can fail, and the bushings wear out. The AP1 (2000-2003) has a snap-oversteer tendency due to the rear suspension design. The AP2 (2004-2009) is more stable. The F20C and F22C engines are bulletproof. It's a future classic.
