The Seville's smarter, sharper sibling—a rear-drive luxury sedan with the last Northstar V8s. It's a comfortable cruiser, but the supercharged V in the STS-V is a rare, finicky beast.
The STS was a mid-size luxury sedan on the GM Sigma platform (rear-drive). It had a 3.6L V6 (255-302 hp) or a 4.6L Northstar V8 (320 hp). The STS-V had a supercharged 4.4L Northstar V8 (469 hp). Transmissions: 5-speed auto or 6-speed auto (6L50).
The 3.6L V6 has timing chain issues. The 4.6L Northstar in this generation is the final version, and it's much better—the head bolt issue was fixed. The STS-V's supercharged Northstar is a cool engine, but it's expensive to fix. The STS is a good car, but it's not as well-regarded as the CTS. It's more of a luxury cruiser than a sports sedan.
