The mid-size two-row crossover that's a Taurus wagon in disguise. The 3.5L Cyclone V6 has the internal water pump issue; the 2.7L EcoBoost in the ST is a beast. It's a comfortable cruiser, but it's not a Toyota.
Mid-size 2-row crossover, FWD/AWD, unibody. 1st gen (2007-2014) had the 3.5L Cyclone V6 (265 hp) or 3.7L Cyclone (305 hp in the Sport), 6-speed 6F50 auto. 2nd gen (2015-2024) was lighter, 2.0L EcoBoost I4 (245 hp) standard, 2.7L EcoBoost V6 (335 hp) in the ST, 8-speed auto (8F57) for 2019+.
The 3.5L Cyclone has the internal water pump issue—if it fails, it dumps coolant into the oil, engine replacement needed. The 3.7L is the same design—same risk. The 2.0L EcoBoost had coolant intrusion on early 2nd-gen models (2015-2018)—Ford fixed the block design around 2019. The 2.7L EcoBoost (Nano) has a compact graphite-iron block and is very stout, but it's high-strung. The Edge is a comfortable daily, but buy a 2019+ if you want the 2.0L without the head-gasket worries.
